Eligibility

The eligibility level is based on 650 hours of employment at the majority journeyman’s rate. Thus, a journeyman can earn full benefits by working approximately four (4) months in the six (6) month work period.

If employer contributions are not sufficient to earn eligibility, a member may be permitted to make self-payment to make up the shortage.

Effective October 1, 2005, should an active member be permitted to make a self-payment beyond the fourth consecutive self-payment, that payment will be based on $3,900.00 for the six-month period. In order to make a self-payment beyond the fourth consecutive self-payment, a member will be required to provide proof of continued temporary disability from the trade or must have a minimum of $1,400.00 in employer contributions during the six month work period.
